Start

Cranking RPM

RPM below which the starter works. They must be installed 30-40 RPM higher than the maximum speed of the starter.

Cranking Injection Time

The base time from which the engine start is calculated. As a rule of thumb - equal to the injection time at idle.

Cold Enrichment

Enrichment level at low temperatures.

Idle position

Idle valve position at start

Idle cold add

Idle valve position additive at low temperatures

After start

After start enrichment is activated after engine was started. Over time, the enrichment gradually decreases to zero.

It is used to prevent cold engine from stall

Enrichment Level

Relative enrichment level. The colder the engine - the more enrichment is applied.

Enrichment Duration

Relative enrichment duration. The colder the engine - the longer is duration.

Start algorithm principle

Hot Start Setup

Prerequisites:

  • VE map at low RPM is tuned
  • The engine is fully warmed up

Configuration method:

  • Load defaults
  • Set the Cranking Injection Time equal to the injection time at idle
  • If start is unreliable - adjust Cranking Injection Time and Idle position

Cold Start Setup

Prerequisites:

  • Hot start is adjusted
  • Temperature enrichment adjusted
  • The engine is cold (best to adjust in the morning)

Configuration method

  • If start is unreliable - try to increase Cold Enrichment first, and then Idle cold add
  • If the engine starts and immediately stalls - increase after start enrichment
