For M103 you need only crankshaft sensor and ignition coil that were mentioned in this topic, I think. At least I have used ignition coil for my M102.

what about "phased injection" - is this something different from default? How is this implemented?

On M102, by default, it can be simultaneous injection. In my case for phased injection I took trigger wheel and hall sensor from Audi's distributor and inserted it to distributor of M102.

Disassemble distributors by hammering off a trigger wheel from Audi distributor and locking ring of M102 (you'd better heat up wheel and ring). Wide the window of trigger wheel as described in instruction for Audi: https://invent-labs.com/jetronic/docs/en/installation/audi_nf.html#distributor-preparation-for-phased-injection In the housing on the outside of the distributor, make a 17x17mm window and reduce the diameter of the rotor housing to 23mm for the Hall sensor. Drill holes, cut threads and screw the Hall sensor. Place the rotor shaft on the first cylinder and hammer on trigger wheel (don't forget to hot up it) so that the beginning of the expanded window of the first cylinder overlaps the Hall sensor by half.
The end result looks something like this

Hi guys! Im currently doing the ignition on the m102. Seems like the coil sparks on the start on all 4 cylinders on key on/off and there is no spark while cranking. Cranking rpm stays at 100+-10, injectors work. Fine. You got any ideas to what the heck is going on ?
PS - don't trust febi or hella for crankshaft sensors- same factory. Go with bosch.

Is this setup using the FACET 9.8114 ignition coil intended to keep the stock distributor and if so can another igniton coil unit with 4 spark outputs be used for a m102 setup in order to remove the stock distributor?

2 - no, there is no way to distinguish 1st cylinder

JHM Wouldn't wasted spark still work? As far as i know wasted spark ignites 2 cylinders at a time therefore it shouldn't matter?

No. For wasted spark to work, it should be able to distinguish TDC/BDC

1-4 and 2-3 work in pairs. How do you tell which pair is it?

JHM What do you mean the crankshaft position signal tells the ecu when the cylinders are at TDC in order to fire a spark. I was just asking as there is only 1 EMUL wire which is the ignition output from the ECU and the 4 tower ignition coils for wasted spark require 2 igniton outputs.I have seen that wasted spark is possible on a m102 engine and was wondering if i would be able to use it with the invent jetronic ecu?

It is not possible with this setup. I already explained why.

A crank trigger wheel will do.
You need a wheel with 2 sectors, resembling the flywheel trigger.
